Rangatahi Climate Action Funding Pool Update

We’re excited to share that the Jeanette Fitzsimmons Climate Action Grants have made a return for another year, once again supporting the ECX Rangatahi Climate Action pool. These grants, dedicated to nurturing innovative climate action led by young people, are a vital component in our mission to drive meaningful change in our communities.

This year, we're thrilled to spotlight two outstanding recipients: Te Hira Horua and Miria Koia.

Te Hira Horua is pioneering a flood model simulation, harnessing modern 3D tech methods to enhance our understanding and preparedness for climate-related flooding. This project aims to provide critical data and predictive tools to safeguard our communities against extreme weather events.

Miria Koia is coordinating local participation in the Circular-Economy Conference, focusing on empowering rangatahi to lead in sustainable practices and climate solutions. Their work promises to inspire a new generation of environmental stewards and innovators.

Circular-Economy Conference: "He Kāhui Mano is a three-day think-space to redefine our future through a kaupapa-driven circular economy, to build whānau, hapū, and community resilience."

Both of these projects are a testament to the incredible talent and dedication of our youth in tackling climate challenges. By supporting these initiatives, the Jeanette Fitzsimmons Climate Action Grants continue to play a crucial role in advancing climate resilience and sustainability.
